Welcome to William! These terms and conditions ('Terms') govern your use of our bill and personal finance management platform and services.

By using William, you agree to comply with these Terms. Please read them carefully.

1. Introduction

1.1 William is an online platform that facilitates bill and personal finance management among individuals, groups, and businesses ("Users") in Australia.

1.2 These Terms, along with our Privacy Policy, constitute a legally binding agreement between you and William. If you do not agree to these Terms, please refrain from using our platform.

2. Eligibility

2.1 You must be at least 18 years old to use William. The platform and its services (including any energy comparison features) are intended for Australian residents only.

2.2 If you are using William on behalf of a group or an organization, you represent and warrant that you have the authority to enter into these Terms on their behalf.

3. Account Registration

3.1 To access William’s features, you must create an account. You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration and to update such information as necessary.

3.2 You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activities that occur under your account. Notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account.

4. William’s Role

4.1 William provides a platform for bill management, personal finance tracking, and communication among Users and businesses. Our platform may also facilitate additional services through third-party integrations (as described in these Terms).

4.2 William does not endorse, verify, or guarantee the accuracy of any bill details or other content provided by Users or third parties on the platform. You acknowledge that any reliance on information from other Users or businesses is at your own risk.

5. Bill Details

5.1 Users are responsible for providing accurate and up-to-date information regarding bills, including amounts, due dates, and participating individuals or entities.

5.2 William reserves the right to remove or modify any information that violates these Terms or applicable laws.

6. Open Banking

6.1 Third-Party Service (Tale Fin): William may allow you to link your bank account to your William account to import financial data. We use a third-party service, Tale Fin, Inc. ("Tale Fin"), to provide this functionality via a secure API.

6.2 Bank Credentials: You will be asked to provide your bank login credentials to enable the bank feed. Your credentials are sent securely to Tale Fin and are not stored by William.

6.3 Data Access and Use: By linking your bank account, you authorize Tale Fin to collect your account information (such as account balances and transaction history for the past three months) and provide it to William, enabling balance display, transaction tracking, and reminders.

6.4 Consent and Acknowledgement: You consent to Tale Fin using your information for these services and acknowledge they may use de-identified aggregate data to improve services. See Tale Fin’s Privacy Policy for details.

7. Payment Processing

7.1 William may offer payment processing services for paying bills or transferring funds via integrated third-party processors. Additional fees or terms may apply.

7.2 All payment transactions initiated through William are processed securely. William is not a bank or deposit-holding institution. Any disputes or issues related to payment processing may need to be resolved with the third-party processor or your financial institution.

7.3 William is not responsible for errors in processing payments that result from inaccurate information you provide. You are responsible for ensuring payment details are correct and sufficient funds are available.

8. Energy Plan Comparison and Switching Service (Electricity & Gas)

8.1 Service Description: William offers an optional Compare and Switch service for electricity and gas plans, provided in partnership with CIMET Sales Pty Ltd (“CIMET”).

8.2 Third-Party Provider: The tool is powered by CIMET Sales Pty Ltd ABN 72 620 395 726 (Australian Credit Licence 546701). Certain features are subject to CIMET’s systems and terms.

8.3 Not Financial Advice: Information provided is for reference only. Neither William nor CIMET offers financial or energy usage advice.

8.4 Coverage of Providers: CIMET’s platform may not include all energy providers or plans. Availability may change without notice.

8.5 Plan Information: Plan details are supplied by energy retailers via CIMET. William and CIMET do not guarantee accuracy or completeness.

8.6 Eligibility for Energy Switch: Must be an Australian resident aged 18+. You must provide accurate details and prove authorization to switch the specified account.

8.7 Consent to Information Sharing: You consent to William and CIMET sharing your information with energy retailers to facilitate plan switches.

8.8 Process and Communications: CIMET or the selected retailer may contact you to confirm details or finalize the switch.

8.9 No Endorsement of Providers: Listing does not imply recommendation. You are responsible for reviewing plan suitability.

8.10 Fees and Commissions: The service is free to you. CIMET (and William) may receive referral fees from providers, which do not affect your plan price.

8.11 User Responsibility: You contract directly with the energy retailer. William and CIMET are not parties to that contract.

8.12 Cancellation of Switch Requests: You must cancel directly with the retailer. William and CIMET cannot withdraw requests on your behalf once submitted.

8.13 Inquiries and Support: Contact William support or CIMET directly for assistance with the service or switched plans.

8.14 Privacy and Data Use: Personal information is used by William and CIMET per CIMET’s Privacy Policy to facilitate the service.

8.15 Marketing Communications: CIMET may send you marketing communications unless you opt out; this does not affect your service use.

8.16 Disclaimer of Warranties (Energy Service): The service is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind.

8.17 Liability Limitation (Energy Service): William and CIMET are not liable for damages resulting from the energy comparison feature.

8.18 Third-Party Terms: Your use of this feature is subject to CIMET’s terms. Conflicts between CIMET’s terms and these Terms will defer to CIMET for that feature.

9. Visa Gift Card Promotion

9.1 Promotion Overview: William may offer eligible customers a prepaid Visa gift card (“Gift Card”) as a reward for completing a compare and switch through the William platform and maintaining an active connection for the qualifying period (“Promotion”). By participating, you agree to the terms set out in this section.

9.2 Eligibility: To be eligible for a Gift Card, you must:

• Be an Australian resident aged 18 or over;

• Complete a compare and switch through the William platform during the Promotion Period (defined in clause 9.6);

• Maintain an active and connected service under the switched plan for a minimum of 45 consecutive days from the date your new connection is confirmed; and

• Not have previously received a Gift Card under this Promotion at the same residential address.

9.3 Gift Card Values: The Gift Card value is determined by the type of service switched, as follows:

• Electricity: $100

• Gas: $50

• Internet: $30

• Mobile phone: $20

9.4 One Gift Card Per Household: The Promotion is limited to one (1) Gift Card per residential address (household), regardless of the number of services switched, the number of residents at the address, or the number of accounts held. Only the first eligible claim submitted from a given residential address will be honoured.

9.5 Total Promotion Budget: The total value of all Gift Cards issued under this Promotion shall not exceed $250,000 (two hundred and fifty thousand Australian dollars) in aggregate. William reserves the right to cease accepting new claims once this cap is reached, even before the end of the Promotion Period.

9.6 Promotion Period: The Promotion commences on the date published on the William platform and ends at 11:59 PM AEST on 31 March 2026, or when the total Gift Card budget of $250,000 is exhausted, whichever occurs first (“Promotion Period”). Switches commenced prior to the end of the Promotion Period but not yet satisfying the 45-day connection requirement will remain eligible provided all other conditions are met, subject to budget availability.

9.7 Gift Card Fulfilment: William will contact eligible customers via their registered email address within a reasonable period following confirmation of the 45-day connection requirement being met. Gift Cards are issued by a third-party provider and are subject to that provider’s terms and conditions. William is not responsible for the fulfilment, activation, or use of the Gift Card once issued.

9.8 Verification: William reserves the right to verify eligibility before issuing any Gift Card, including by requesting evidence of connection status from the relevant retailer or service provider. Failure to provide requested verification within a reasonable timeframe may result in forfeiture of the reward.

9.9 Non-Transferable: Gift Cards are non-transferable, cannot be exchanged for cash, and have no cash redemption value.

9.10 Fraud and Misrepresentation: Any attempt to claim a Gift Card by providing false, misleading, or fraudulent information will result in immediate disqualification. William reserves the right to recover the value of any Gift Card issued on the basis of misrepresentation.

9.11 Modification and Cancellation: William reserves the right to amend, suspend, or terminate the Promotion at any time without prior notice, subject to applicable Australian Consumer Law obligations. Any such change will not affect claims already confirmed as eligible.

9.12 No Guarantee of Savings: Participation in the Promotion does not guarantee that the switched plan will result in cost savings. William does not provide financial or energy usage advice in connection with the Promotion.

9.13 Taxes: Recipients are solely responsible for any tax obligations arising from receipt of a Gift Card. William does not provide tax advice.

9.14 Governing Law: This Promotion is governed by the laws of Australia. Any disputes relating to the Promotion will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Australia.

9.15 Privacy: Personal information collected in connection with the Promotion will be handled in accordance with William’s Privacy Policy. By participating, you consent to William collecting and using your information for the purposes of administering the Promotion.

10. Prohibited Activities

10.1 Users must not engage in illegal, fraudulent, or harmful activities, including misrepresenting information or unlawful conduct.

10.2 Users must not provide misleading or false information on the platform. Violations may result in account termination and legal consequences.

10.3 You agree not to exploit the platform via unauthorized means, such as bots or scrapers, or compromise its security or performance.

11. Mobile App Stores

11.1 The William mobile app is available on third-party platforms (Apple App Store, Google Play). Your use must comply with their terms.

11.2 These Terms are between you and William. The App Store owner is a third-party beneficiary and may enforce these Terms.

12. Termination

12.1 William may suspend or terminate accounts for violations without notice in cases of fraud or abuse.

12.2 We may discontinue services or features for maintenance or operational reasons, providing notice when feasible.

12.3 You may request account deletion at any time. Post-termination clauses that survive include liability limitations and governing law.

13. Limitation of Liability

13.1 William and its affiliates are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising from use of the platform.

13.2 Total liability is limited to amounts paid in the 12 months preceding a claim, to the extent permitted by law.

13.3 Nothing limits rights you may have under applicable law that cannot be excluded or restricted.

14. Governing Law

14.1 These Terms are governed by Australian law. Australian consumers retain rights under the Australian Consumer Law.

14.2 Disputes not resolved amicably will submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Queensland.

15. Modifications to Terms

15.1 William may update these Terms periodically, providing notice for significant changes. The "Last Updated" date will reflect updates.

15.2 Continued use after updates constitutes acceptance. If you disagree, cease use and request account deletion.

15.3 Variations do not apply to disputes arising before the change unless required by law.
